Pride and Prejudice by Clare West, Jane Austen, Tricia Hedge, and Jennifer Bassett

Any idea what an “adapter” is, in this context?

All the reviews of all the editions of Pride and Prejudice seem to be mixed together here on Amazon. However, in the book specs you will notice that this edition is for “ages 9-12.” I assume Clare West modified the original to be suitable for a younger audience in terms of vocabulary, etc. Listings for other online bookstores say it is “retold by” Clare West.

Ah, that makes sense.

And perhaps she also adapted it to include a discussion of long division with fractions and remainders?

Perhaps accounting, or bookkeeping for household management. Austen was very concerned with income.

It could also do with a better ending.
